Faculty

All PPM faculty members are superb. They are not only brilliant instructors but also active researchers. They come from a variety of disciplines, including public administration, political science, sociology, and economics. We also keep absorbing various academic talents to enhance our multidisciplinary teaching and research capacity.

Program

Receive one-on-one attention. PPM encourages students to have frequent consultation and discussion with our faculty. When students are admitted to the Public Policy and Management major, they are assigned a staff advisor who meets with them regularly.
A unique internship. Students are placed in a practical internship in the summer time of the junior year. PPM takes the lead to initiate such a program in Taiwan. The internship provides an opportunity for students to apply textbook knowledge to the practice in the public sector and to test its applicability so as to in turn enrich and update existing theories. Through the internship, the competitiveness of our graduates in the job market would be largely enhanced. Interns are required to fulfill at least 240 working hours as well as six working weeks in a public agent.
Balance Tactical and strategic knowledge development. PPM students learn tactical knowledge that emphasizes Internet technology, such as multimedia design, web page management, and databank design in order to serve the need of the different organizations. Meanwhile, PPM students are required to learn strategic knowledge from both macro and micro perspectives to develop multidisciplinary academic knowledge capacity and to broaden the knowledge base of students.

Student Activities

Participating in extracurricular activities is one of the ¡§core credits¡¨ for undergraduates. It is one of the most important conditions for an employer to evaluate a job applicant¡¦s ability. So is the application for postgraduate programs. The PPM Student Association, as a self-managed student organization, provides our students with opportunities to join various activities, such as conferences, lectures, games, entertainments and so on. Students are encouraged to participate in the Association to accumulate experiences as to how to plan and run an activity. This experience helps build up a solid base for their future advanced studies or working.

Research

PPM faculty members are outstanding not only in teaching but also in research performance. They are constantly invited to present research papers at either international or domestic conferences. They have published academic articles in various domestic and international refereed journals. Our faculty members have been granted various research funds from the National Science Council and the Academia Sinica.

Career Prospect

Students can move on to various postgraduate programs for further studies, such as public policy, public management, business administration, politics, and public affairs. Equipped with outstanding decision-making and management knowledge and technique, our graduates are competent to assume any management, administrative, and research positions in the public and non-profit sectors.
