of Business Administration has steadily grown to be a major management
institution in Southern Taiwan that offer quality education to both
undergraduate students and practitioners. Currently, there are 19

Our vision is to nurture the students to be future top-tier leaders and
managers in all sectors, who are well prepared for management challenges
in the era of rapid organizational change, of endless demands for
innovation, and of globalization. This vision is the major thrust behind
the endless search for excellence of BA.
Teaching and Research
Our faculty has built among
themselves a dynamic team of diverse teaching and research. With over
1000 full time students enrolled in both day and evening classes, the
department develops five core areas to satisfy students' needs:
Strategic Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Financial
Management, and Management Science. The faculty also actively
participate in the MBA and PhD programs of the Graduate School of
Management.
The faculty members are highly devoted to academic research.
Over the past three years, ever 50% of the proposals submitted were
successfully granted with research fund by the National Science Council
other agencies. Many of their papers are published in major domestic and
international journals. The department also helpto publish the English
journal PanPacific Management Review (PPMR), a bi-annual publication
which publishes papers by scholars all over the world and begins to gain
its momentum on the road of excellence.
Curriculum and Facilities
To earn a BBA, a student has to
complete a program of 144 credits. The curriculum structure includes the
common core (32 credits required for all I-Shou students), the
professional core (67 credits required for all students in Business
Administration), the professional electives (35 credits), and the
general electives (10 credits). While the core and elective professional
courses cover all areas in management and business, the common core and
general elective courses focus primarily on humanities and liberal arts.
There are regulations guiding students who wish to develop
double majors or a major with a minor, as well as those wanting to
transfer from one department to another. Various facilities and teaching
aids are available and some courses are taught in simulation
laboratories. Typically, a student spends four years to complete the
bachelor's program.
Career Development
A recent study indicates that our
graduates have exemplified great potential in all walks of life,
including corporate professionals and managers, government personnel,
initiating own enterprises or pursuing advanced education. The
Department is trying to globalize itself by encouraging the faculty to
increase using English textbooks and by encouraging the students to
apply for exchange student status with our sister schools abroad. Among
other efforts, we will continue to expand our network with the
industrial communities to enrich teaching and research and to make
further contribution to the "outer world". In parallel, the Department
has made it a continuous endeavor to recruit highly enthusiastic
scholars, those with an adequate doctorate are welcome to apply.
